Don’t know how you end up hoodwinked into one of these. Could have gotten a fully loaded 201 hp Acura ILX for that price. Why am I drooling?

I’m strongly considering getting hoodwinked.

The first RS I saw up close was a guy at the other pump at a gas station, who asked me how I liked my ST. I thought that was really cool of him, since, you know, he’s driving the fancy pants version of my car, and had every reason to lord it over me.
And yes, my theory held up, and he had a beard and glasses.

Your money would be better spent importing an Integra or Civic Type-R. Just sayin’

both cars are stupidly over priced. in canada, a focus rs (after tax and everything is a FIFTY. THOUSAND. DOLLAR. FOCUS.
same with the STi and the Golf R. at least the golf you can argue its a cheaper, manual S3. but still.

Is this theory that all ST/RS drivers have a beard and glasses, because if so you can add me to the evidence list.

Yes, yes it is. Every ST/RS I’ve seen (including both the Focus and Fiesta) has been driven by a guy with glasses and at least maintained five o’clock shadow. I fit the description, my girlfriend’s former coworker who drove one fit the description, the informal Oppo poll I ran a few months ago that it was the case, along with people who want one also having a beard and glasses, and those that who lacked either a beard or glasses either wore contacts or were not allowed to have a beard for work, but would if they could.
It’s either very focused (lol) marketing or a refusal to sell to people who don’t fit this description.

This is whats scaring me. I’m not in a big hurry so i was thinking of waiting 6 months to a year. I’m up in the NW where WRX’s and cars like it are pretty popular.

I’m kind of bothered that the RS badge and the focus badge aren’t the same place on the hatch.
why are automakers just throwing badges at cars and hoping they stick?

I was wrong, they were all $37,900 cars that were adjusted to $44,000 and then discounted to $38,700.

I was wrong, they were $38,000 cars that were adjusted to $44,500 and then marked down $39,000.

Do it. Besides some relatively minor issues (early cars had B-Pillar rattles, and some guys, including me, have had leaky transfer cases) the car is a freaking blast. So much fun on the street, and the hype holds up at autocross and on the track.

That’s pretty rare... Got any links? Every time I saw an RS listed under MSRP “oh, that’s a mistake on our site, the RS doesn’t get the same discounts as the other Ford products”

I wonder if, when the 205 T16 or Delta Integrale were new people declared the prices of those cars insane, since they were “just hotted up
205's
and
Deltas
”

It’s definitely number 1 on the list. If it stays there much longer I think it’s going to have to happen. I tend to own cars for a long time so I really want to make sure it’s the one before buying but I haven’t heard anything to put me off of them.
Do you daily yours? It’d mostly be a daily for me, with the odd track day and parking lot hoon session.

Yep, it’s my daily. Even in the lovely weather recently...
I’m averaging mid-upper 18 mpg, including four hours of track time on VIR and a bunch of autocrosses.
Besides the issues that I mentioned, it’s been a blast.
bob and john

well, they are.
also, i’m curious to see how much of a difference in price they were back then. because between a base focus starts at 17K in canada. a RS is 48K. that’s MORE then double the cost of the car. almost 3 times in fact. Somehow I don’t think the old Integrales were almost 3 times the cost of a base delta (or maybe they were, I’m curious)
Dusty Ventures

I don’t know what the difference between Delta trims was, but I’ll ask around. And is that seriously the starting msrp for an RS in Canada?! Because in the US the base Focus starts at almost the same price as up there ($16,500), but the RS starts 12k less at $36k
bob and john

01/11/2017 at 11:13 | 0 |
our ST starts at 36K. and yes, our RS starts at 48K.
granted, canadian dollar is in the shitter now, but still. not cool.
our freaking FiST is 25k....
